I'm getting over winter... Dont get me worng I love layers and I am definitely going to miss my small leather collection over the hotter months, But I miss fresh crisp colours and cuts... I'm over the big cloud of black fabric and textiles I am seeing everywhere... I have only myself to blame in a way seeing as majority of my wardrobe is black! But May the label has bought out just what I needed... A fresh Spring Summer collection.. Simplicity at its best and then finished off with a few delicate details like ruffles, bows, subtle peak shoulders and scalloped hems... I myself usually like grungy apparel I always seem to add some cuffs, leather, smoky eyes or something to toughen up my look I'm afraid if I dress to delicately I'll look like a 12 year old or something but May's pieces are the perfect wardrobe staple! Not to mention they have the most AMAZING clogs!
"About May...
It was out of frustration and desperation for wearable, edgy and affordable on trend basics that label May was conceived in April 2009.
Georgia Phillis, the quiet designer behind May, noticed finding the right staples for her wardrobe became increasingly hard. ‘I could never find enough good basics to fill my wardrobe, even though there are so many retailers out there,’ mused Melbourne based Phillis, ‘It’s sort of like water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!’
Simplicity is Phillis’s personal style, and now it is the also key philosophy behind May. ‘May is a label ultimately designed for a customer like me – I want pieces that can be worked back with everything.’ she said of her collection, ‘it’s not fussy and all about the finer details.’
Cute dresses and cool separates made from frothy crepes, light cottons and soft jersey in a neutral palette of chambray, creams and black capture the minimalist in Phillis’ perfectly, polished pieces with delicate details like ruffles, bows, subtle peak shoulders and scalloped hems.
May has hit the right notes with the Australian market, having picked up stockists nationally. The label’s versatility and affordability will cement its placement in wardrobes everywhere."
